Why Integrative Medicine?

Integrative Medicine (IM) looks at the care and health of the person as a whole. Healthy means far more than being free of disease. It means being in state of wholeness that covers the complete balance of physical, mental, spiritual, social and well-being. Integrative treatment combines the best therapies of modern medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that neither rejects modern medicine nor accepts TCM uncritically. From this perspective and understanding, the role of integrative medicine (IM) in promoting health and well-being is multi-faceted.

The core principle of integrative medicine is the partnership between patient and practitioner in the healing process. Integrative health aims for a well-coordinated care among different types of treatment by bringing conventional and complementary Eastern & Western approaches together.

What is unique and different about integrative medicine is that the therapies offered are evidence-based and have been proven through some form of research and clinical studies. It is constantly evolving and looks into the best combination of East and Western medication towards a patient’s well-being.

AIM Healthcare TCM integrative Clinic is designed to provide holistic treatment with the specialisation in cancer, stroke, and pain management. It brings acupuncture and Chinese herb medicine directly into conventional treatment and therapy that is tailored specifically for the patient's needs.

Dr Kong Why Hong

Dr Kong Why Hong is one of the elite few medical practitioners in Malaysia known as an Integrative Doctor who has a combined qualification, knowledge and experience of both, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and modern medicine. He graduated as a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician in the Guangzhou University of TCM (China) in 1998 and in 2010, completed his medical degree at the Crimea State Medical University (Ukraine).

For more than 20 years, Dr Kong practised TCM at his clinics in Malaysia and opened two acupuncture and herbal clinics in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The full range of services include consultations, acupuncture, massages, herbal, cupping, foot reflexology amongst others. His ‘Patient First’ approach provides   holistic treatment that will look into the patient’s body, mind and spirit with the ability to combine the best therapies of modern medicine and TCM.

Passionate and intrigued about integrative medicine, while he was pursuing his medical degree, he continued to practise TCM in London and Ukraine. This further spurred him to complete his PhD at Nanjing University. Today, Dr Kong wears many hats- He is currently the resident doctor in Poliklinik Perdana, Chief Chinese Physician in AIM HEALTHCARE ACUPUNCTURE TCM CENTER and a visiting lecturer at the INTI International University and Xiamen University.

Further in addition to his notable accolades are his many years of medical practice experience (emergency and rehabilitation departments) in government hospitals. He was a Senior Assistant Director in the Traditional & Complimentary Division of the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. He was also the Head of Clinical for GHHS MINES wellness city.  Dr Kong is a registered medical doctor with the Malaysia Medical Council (MMC), a lifetime member of Malaysia Chinese Medical Association (MCMA), Acupuncture Association of Malaysia (MAAM) and the Malaysia Oncology Society (MOS).
